WARRANTY POLICY of Mothix Containers
1. About This Warranty Policy
Mothix Containers is an Australian supplier of shipping containers, modified containers, office containers, container homes, modular buildings and related products.
This Warranty Policy explains how Mothix Containers handles warranty claims and product faults for products supplied within Australia.
This policy applies in addition to, and does not replace or limit, any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Where a product comes with a specific manufacturer’s warranty or an express Mothix Containers warranty, the applicable warranty period and conditions will be stated on the relevant product page, quotation, invoice, order confirmation or other sales documentation.
2. Australian Consumer Law
Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
These rights are provided by law and are additional to any voluntary warranty offered by Mothix Containers or a manufacturer.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify rights and remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law.
3. Voluntary Product Warranties
Some Mothix Containers products may be supplied with a voluntary warranty provided by Mothix Containers, the manufacturer, or another supplier.
Where a voluntary warranty applies, the applicable:
- warranty period;
- components covered;
- conditions;
- exclusions;
- claim procedure; and
- available remedy
will be stated in the relevant product documentation or sales agreement.
Not every product supplied by Mothix Containers carries the same voluntary warranty.
Customers should check the product listing, quotation or sales documentation before purchasing if a specific warranty period is important to them.
4. New Shipping Containers
For new or one-trip shipping containers, any manufacturer’s or supplier warranty will depend on the particular container, manufacturer, specifications and sales agreement.
Where a specific warranty is offered, Mothix Containers will provide the applicable warranty details to the customer.
Warranty coverage may relate to particular defects in materials, workmanship, structure, doors, seals or other components, depending on the warranty applicable to the product.
A warranty does not automatically cover damage caused after delivery through misuse, modification, improper handling, accidents, environmental conditions or other causes outside the applicable warranty.
5. Used and Second-Hand Containers
Used and second-hand containers may have visible signs of previous use, including:
- dents;
- scratches;
- surface rust;
- paint deterioration;
- repairs;
- patches;
- cosmetic wear;
- floor wear; and
- other age-related or usage-related marks.
These characteristics do not necessarily indicate a product defect.
The condition of a used container will be assessed according to its description, photographs, inspection information and the terms agreed at the time of sale.
Any specific voluntary warranty applicable to a used container will be stated in the quotation, invoice, product listing or other sales documentation.
Nothing in this section removes or limits any applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Modified Containers and Custom-Built Products
Modified containers, office containers, container homes and other customised products may contain components supplied or installed by different manufacturers or contractors.
Warranty coverage may therefore vary between components.
Examples may include:
- electrical equipment;
- air-conditioning systems;
- plumbing fixtures;
- windows and doors;
- insulation;
- flooring;
- appliances;
- cabinetry;
- lighting;
- water tanks;
- pumps; and
- other installed equipment.
Where a component is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, Mothix Containers may assist the customer in contacting the relevant manufacturer or supplier.
Any applicable manufacturer’s warranty does not remove the customer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. What May Not Be Covered by a Voluntary Warranty
Unless otherwise stated in the applicable warranty documentation, a voluntary warranty may not cover problems caused by:
- accidental damage;
- misuse or abuse;
- negligent handling;
- unauthorised modifications or alterations;
- structural modifications not approved by Mothix Containers or the relevant manufacturer;
- incorrect installation;
- improper foundations or site preparation;
- incorrect unloading or positioning;
- use outside the product’s intended purpose;
- normal wear and tear;
- cosmetic deterioration caused by ordinary use;
- corrosion arising from environmental exposure or lack of appropriate maintenance;
- damage caused during relocation after delivery;
- damage caused by storms, flooding, fire or other external events;
- unauthorised repairs;
- failure to follow supplied care or maintenance instructions; or
- damage caused after delivery by third parties.
These exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not exclude or restrict applicable Australian Consumer Law rights.
8. Container Corrosion and Environmental Conditions
Shipping containers are manufactured from steel and may be exposed to varying environmental conditions.
The rate of corrosion can depend on factors including:
- coastal or marine environments;
- exposure to salt air;
- humidity;
- standing water;
- drainage;
- chemical exposure;
- climate;
- storage conditions;
- maintenance; and
- modifications made to the container.
Customers are responsible for appropriate site preparation, drainage and reasonable maintenance unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Where a specific corrosion warranty applies to a product, its terms and limitations will be provided in the applicable warranty documentation.
9. Electrical, Plumbing and Building Components
Where a product contains electrical, plumbing, structural or building components, the applicable warranty may depend on the manufacturer, installer and specific component.
Customers should use appropriately qualified and licensed tradespeople where required by Australian law.
Mothix Containers does not represent that every modified container or container home is suitable for every site, intended use, planning requirement or approval without appropriate assessment.
Customers are responsible for obtaining any approvals, permits or certifications required for their particular site or intended use unless Mothix Containers has expressly agreed in writing to provide those services.

Please provide, where available:
- Your full name;
- Order number, invoice number or quotation number;
- Product description;
- Date of purchase;
- Delivery address;
- Description of the problem;
- Photographs or videos showing the issue;
- Any relevant inspection or service report; and
- Details of any relevant warranty documentation.
We may request additional information or arrange an inspection where reasonably necessary to assess the issue.
11. Inspection and Assessment
Mothix Containers may need to inspect the product or arrange an inspection before determining the appropriate remedy under a voluntary warranty.
Customers should not carry out substantial repairs, modifications or alterations to the affected product before contacting Mothix Containers where doing so could make it more difficult to determine the cause of the problem.
This does not prevent a customer from taking reasonable steps to prevent further damage or loss where necessary.
12. Warranty Remedies
Where a claim is covered by an applicable voluntary warranty, Mothix Containers or the relevant manufacturer may, depending on the warranty terms and circumstances:
- repair the affected product or component;
- replace the affected component;
- replace the product where appropriate;
- arrange for the relevant manufacturer or supplier to address the issue; or
- provide another remedy permitted under the applicable warranty.
Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, the remedy available to the customer will depend on the nature and circumstances of the failure. Consumers may have rights to repair, replacement, refund or compensation where applicable.
13. Warranty Claim Costs
Where a voluntary warranty applies, responsibility for reasonable costs associated with a valid warranty claim will depend on the applicable warranty terms and the circumstances of the claim.
Depending on the product and warranty, this may include costs associated with:
- inspection;
- transportation;
- parts;
- labour;
- removal or reinstallation; or
- other reasonable expenses.
Where Australian Consumer Law requires Mothix Containers to provide a remedy, applicable costs will be handled in accordance with those legal obligations.
14. Products Damaged During Delivery
Customers should inspect products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If visible damage is identified, customers should:
- photograph the damage;
- record the condition of the product;
- notify Mothix Containers as soon as reasonably possible; and
- provide photographs and delivery documentation where available.
Prompt notification helps us investigate the issue with the relevant transport provider or supplier.
Nothing in this section limits any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
15. Manufacturer Warranties
Some products or components may be supplied with a manufacturer’s warranty.
Where applicable, Mothix Containers may assist customers with the warranty process.
The manufacturer’s warranty may contain specific conditions regarding installation, servicing, maintenance, usage and claim procedures.
However, where Mothix Containers is the supplier responsible for the customer’s purchase, customers should contact Mothix Containers regarding problems with the product rather than being required to deal with the manufacturer directly, except where applicable law permits otherwise.
16. Proof of Purchase
We may request reasonable proof of purchase when assessing a warranty claim.
Examples include:
- invoice;
- receipt;
- order confirmation;
- quotation;
- payment record; or
- other documentation showing the purchase.
17. Business and Commercial Purchases
Mothix Containers supplies products to both consumers and businesses.
The application of the Australian Consumer Law depends on the circumstances of the transaction and the applicable legal requirements.
For example, certain business purchases may qualify for consumer guarantees where the applicable requirements are met.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude rights that apply under the Australian Consumer Law.
18. Changes to This Warranty Policy
Mothix Containers may update this Warranty Policy from time to time.
The version published on this website will identify the date on which it was last updated.
Any warranty specifically agreed in writing as part of an existing purchase will continue to be governed by the terms applicable to that purchase, subject to applicable law.
